HOWARD JOHNSON HUAIHAI HOTEL REVIEW

Currently, there are no direct buses from the airport to Howard Johnson Huahai hotel. As I have mentioned in my previous post, we rode a bus (25 Yuan) from the airport and took a taxi to the hotel for 15 Yuan only.

Upon arrival at the Howard Johnson Huaihai Hotel, we gave our booking confirmation to the reception staff. She seemed confused after reading the paper. We were then advised that she would check regarding the inclusion of breakfast. (It was clearly printed on our voucher "Breakfast Included"). We were pretty much left in the dark for a few minutes as to the status of our meal. However, it was soon resolved. Having said that, I was just expecting everything was supposed to be well-taken care of since we booked our stay one month in advance.

Our room (Php 3,000+ a night) is a bit small but is equipped with comfy queen bed. We enjoyed the complimentary wired internet connectivity throughout our stay. But sometimes we had to deal with the slow connection. I wanted to watch the Pinoy Big Brother double up live streaming on our laptop but the video kept lagging. (Yes, I do watch PBB show. I'm not a Melason fan but I like Melay with her crazy antics. But I'll go for Paul Jake to be the big winner. He deserves it!). Ok moving on... For instance, I had to reconnect more than twice every 3 minutes. Crazy, huh?

Other amenities are LCD television with cable/satellite channels, direct-dial phone, coffee/tea maker, hairdryer and air conditioning.

The nice bathroom has a bathtub as well as a shower cubicle with large rain forest shower, a very Hojo decor. Another note is that one portion of the bathroom wall is semi-transparent. It's not really very clear, but still I won't recommend this room if you're traveling with anyone other than your spouse. ;) (no photo of the semi-transparent wall)

Breakfast was okay, a typical hotel buffet style breakfast. We had the same food served the next day.

Overall, we had a nice stay. The hotel is close to French Concession and Hua Hai Road shopping district. Banks are just a stone's throw away. Bellboys were very alert and ready to help us. Howard Johnson Huahai is a business class hotel located at No. 1 Fenyang Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai 200031, China. It is just 47 km from Pudong International Airport, 13 km from Hongqiao Airport, and 5 km from Shanghai railway station.
