CALBAYOG FOOD HUNT: CAFE ELSA AT CIRIACO HOTEL

SHARE THIS ARTICLE:

A few months back, we took a flight to Calbayog City for a visit and to take care of some important stuff. The days had been very gray and pouring rain the whole time we were there but that didn't stop us from dining out. Yes, our weekend trip leads to food tripping nights.

HB and I were warned by our hosts about the food but were still excited with anticipation to try out this new restaurant. So one night the six of us made our way to Café Elsa at Ciriaco Hotel.

Upon arrival, the place wasn't packed just a few groups. So we were immediately seated at cozy tables.

We chose some set meals instead of the "all-you-can-eat" buffet. This was, by far, the only upscale restaurant I've ever been to in Calbayog. So somehow I expected something exceptional and more excitement in the dishes. But unfortunately it did not wow us. The quality of food was mediocre at best. And we think these can even be found at most ordinary restaurants.

To say the least, food does not match the upscale decor of the restaurant. I hope they'll offer flavorful signature menus that fuses traditional Calbayognon fare or anything NEW. But this would only be possible if they hire professional and good chefs. Just my two cents worth.

There's also a patio area where you can dine al fresco.

Anyhow, if you still want to give it a try, Cafe Elsa is located on the ground level of Ciriaco Hotel in Calbayog City. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (7am-11pm).

NOTE: This is based on my own personal experience. I write this not to put down the business but hoping the management and staff read this review and do something to improve it.
