Part I: Mekong Delta Tour
SHARE THIS ARTICLE:After we had a wholesome buffet breakfast at the hotel, we went directly to Delta Adventure Tour where we had booked our one-day Mekong Delta tour package. Around the area, literally dozens of operators offer almost identical tours which vary from 1 to 4 days trip.
After an hour, we stopped at a restaurant for a few minutes break. Then after another 1-1/2 hours travel, eventually we got to Caibe where we boarded a motorized boat.
The Mekong Delta is the region in Southeast Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of tributaries. The Mekong Delta region encompasses a large portion of southeastern Vietnam of 39,000 km². The area covered by water depends on the season.
The mighty Mekong River, rising from the foothills of Mt. Kailash in Tibet, flows through China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia before it reaches Vietnam, where it divides into nine river mouths, traditionally known as the Mekong Delta.
The area is home to large numbers of rice cultivation fields and the surrounding farmlands are extremely fertile.
The first thing I noticed was the chocolatey-brown color of the river. We had seen a wide variety of the life and scenery of the delta. Our motorized boat cruised along the green rice paddy fields and picturesque tributaries.
