THE BUND

After lunch, we were brought to The Bund, the most famous sight and one of the top ten Shanghai attractions. The word "BUND" means an embankment or an embanked quay. We took a walk at the popular promenade along the Huangpu River and we enjoyed the great views.

As a general rule, always keep a close watch on your possessions because this place is crammed full of locals and tourists alike.

On the west side of the bund tower stand various buildings of different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque and Romanesque, where the old meets the modern Shanghai. The combination of these creates a unique boulevard, which resembles the Liverpool Docks and 1920's New York.

Along the Bund, the Oriental TV Tower can be seen on the opposite side.
