CALBAYOG PART II

SHARE THIS ARTICLE:

There are two churches in Calbayog that are worth visiting. Make sure you pop into the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul, which is considered to be the biggest church in all parishes in the province of Samar. It was erected in the 1850's. Despite series of renovations, some of its Spanish touches still remain. .

Another notable church maybe of interest on your visit is the Mary Consolatrix of the Eucharist Monastery. It's a traditional Catholic Community of contemplative nuns of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. Here you can ask any special prayer request(s). There's also a mass everyday (Mondays to Saturdays: 6:30 am and Sundays 9:00 am).

This open-air church/chapel is completely surrounded by lush tropical foliage which makes it more appealing. As you can see it stands under a canopy of boughs. For me this is a perfect place for meditation, prayer and solitude.

If you plan to visit, please note that access is only possible by private car or you'll need to hire a tricycle since it's a little bit far from the main road. Look out for the white signage that directs you to the place.

Mary Consolatrix of the Eucharist Monastery is located in San Policarpio, Calbayog.
