Hangin' Out at Oakwood Premier Joy Nostalg Center, A Memorable Treat!

When I heard that we are having a staycation at the Oakwood Premier, the first thing that came to my mind was the Oakwood 5-star hotel in Makati wherein a Mutiny by a group of soldiers was launched. Naturally, the excitement was not sinking into my nerves! However, I had to be prepared for it as it was sort of a requirement to be there rather than a pleasure, it was a celebration for the pre-graduation of 2 pretty kins!

Later, I was told that the hotel is situated not in Makati but that it is at the heart of the Ortigas Center, a strategic location where towering buildings can be seen and a preferred place for ADB expats to stay. It gave me a sense of comfort. However, the travel from our place to the said hotel at that moment was a terrible mess....traffic congestion was unbelievable that we were like moving at turtle speed! Instead of an hour ride, it took us about 4 hours to reach the place! Such an experience, really!

Arriving the place which is located at ADB Avenue was a relief! The name “Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center Manila” shown outside the hotel brought a classy flare to it. It was surreal nostalgic on my part as I used to visit the ADB vicinity for some official functions before. The hotel concierge staff changed the nostalgic mood approaching us with beaming smiles and guided us to our room destination.

We were assigned a 2-separate bedrooms and 2 bathrooms executive suite. Modern home entertainment system with multi-channel cable TV: high definition 40" LCD TV with sound bar home theater system in the Living Room, 40" LCD TV in the bedroom and 20" LCD TV in the bathroom. Rain shower and in-shower steam Two telephone lines with International Direct Dialing (IDD) and voicemail facilities Electronic safe.

I had the feeling it will be a great one-night weekend stay! Apart from the huge space for everyone to accommodate, the once in a life time bonding moments with some of the family members made the stay joyful and memorable. June brought some cute funny masks and eyeglasses bought from Japan and the fun moments went on until the wee hours of the morning!

Apart from the great amenities, the hotel is few minutes walk from the surrounding malls such as the Podium, Robinsons Galleria and SM Megamall. Unfortunately, everyone had not the chance to plunge into the inviting pool, due to time constraints.

It is only now that I've learned that the Trip Advisor awarded the Oakwood hotel the Traveller choice for 2015.

For clarification, we were not paid by Oakwood Premiere to write about this. Our stay at the said hotel was paid of course by one of our sponsors, a family member, and that made the staycation perfect!
